MEANT TO BE CALLIGRAPHY

We’re so pleased to share that registration is now open for Meant To Be Calligraphy’s popular calligraphy workshops. Our spring Introduction to Contemporary Pointed Pen Calligraphy classes will be held both in Washington, D.C. (this season, at the airy enclave of The Loft at 600 F in the heart of the District) as well as in Chicago (at the paper shop dreamland that is Greer Chicago)! For the latter workshops, we are partnering with the amazing Chandra Greer to bring our workshop experience to her beautiful space in April to celebrate Greer’s “Month of Letters” and we could not be more excited!

Our formal follow-up workshop, Continuing with Contemporary Pointed Pen Calligraphy, will again take place at our home/studio, which is located just outside of the Del Ray area of Alexandria, Virginia. Those who have previously participated in one of our Intro workshops are also invited to take part in our signature Calligraphy Study Table sessions. These weeknight gatherings are smaller and less formal than our typical workshops, consisting of a short lecture and demonstration followed by time to practice, play and ask questions. Some have a theme (at April’s Study Table we’ll work on spring-themed greeting card designs such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, etc.) and others are more technique-driven (next week’s session will focus on creative capital letters, March will be all about lowercase letter variations, and May will focus on exploring new nibs and troubleshooting issues of scratchiness or poor ink flow). And in all cases, they are fun! They are held in Michele’s home/studio and coffee and music flow freely.

We hope that you will be able to join us for a workshop (or two!). As always, we’ll be keeping the class size intimate, so if you are interested in taking part this spring (or in gifting a class to someone else), please don’t wait too long to secure your spot. You can find more details and register here.
