Calligraphy study table

From Petitely blog —

"Lately I’ve taken up a new past-time. Though I haven’t been very consistent in practicing, I took my first calligraphy class a few months ago at the Karson Butler studio with Michele of Meant to be Calligraphy. It was a great beginner course and taught me all the basics to help me learn all the “rules” so I can bend them a little of course. Last week, I took my next steps in being a part of the calligraphy study table – a more intimate session to brush up on technique and ask more specific questions.

We played with colored inks and I got the chance to explore with different nibs. The chill atmosphere made it easy to get back into the groove of calligraphy and I felt a lot less pressure to perform since it was a smaller group. If you’re in the DC / VA / MD area I highly suggest taking any of Michele’s calligraphy classes. She’s a great teacher and the class is perfect if you want to sharpen the artsy, creative side of you without a huge time commitment.

Now that I’m working on sharpening my technique, I’m excited to spend some time defining my style in lettering. This is just a page of my practice at the study table, but I’m improving each time and incorporating my natural cursive handwriting to it. My goal is to stay consistent and develop in this fun, but very relaxing hobby!"
